July in South Carolina = Hot and Humid

Elder Merrill is getting to experience his first summer on the East Coast and that new world of super high humidity! It's definitely different from the heat in Arizona, which gets blazingly hot but rarely humid. He is in good spirits and doing well overall:

He-ya everybody!  How are you all doing? I'm fine, but how about that heat? Apparently it's record breaking. Yipee! No worries, it's nothing I can't handle. Lol, going to Argentina will certainly be going to someplace with less hot of a temperature. They [the Mission Training Center] sent me an E-mail to let me know that they will inform me the moment I get it. Nice to know that they're thinking of me, but absolutely pointless otherwise. Don't worry about the heat by the way, I'm drinking plenty of water.

He talks about some of the challenges of being a missionary and getting attached even to a temporary place:

Well, like I say, things are just going along.  We have a couple of investigators, but the big problem is that they never commit to doing anything. I'm gonna study in Preach my Gospel about that, but y'know, with all that they do to prepare you, you just can't know how individual people are gonna respond to the gospel. Whenever I get my visa, I'll be exited, but even with all the crazy things that happen here like the people and the heat, I think I'm gonna miss this place.

He also gives a shout out of gratitude for the letters he gets and the blessings:

Hey tell everybody thanks for all the letters that they send me. It's really a pleasant surprise to receive it in the mail, and it's fun to hear from people. Spanish is coming along awesome. They talk a lot about the gift of tongues in the MTC, and I promise, it really does exist. I don't think that I'm this naturally good at picking up a language this fast, this has to be a blessing from god.

Finally he tells us of this hopeful note:

So some exiting news, I could be getting a call saying I'm going to Argentina this Saturday! or I could be in Greenville for another 6 weeks. Well, wherever is fine with me.... I really do want to go to Argentina, but I'll do my best to stay focused on the work.

Well Elder Merrill, as always, we love hearing about your mission and are keeping you in our prayers! :)
